Tyrostat™-09 is composed of extract derived from the native prairie plant western dock, Rumex occidentalis. It has been shown to be a highly effective tyrosinase inhibitor, significantly outperforming hydroquinone and arbutin while maintaining efficacy comparable to kojic acid. Pre-incubation studies herein show Tyrostat™-09 to be a direct tyrosinase inhibitor, while combination with known inhibitors kojic acid and arbutin was demonstrated to even further enhance inhibitive activity. As Tyrostat™-09 is also natural and non-irritating, it is a desirable skin lightening ingredient, alone or in combination.
